The Orange Blob Problem

It’s not until you make website with a blog that you realize just what it is and why you paint. This painting started out with the idea of creating a good composition. I struggle with composition. I usually paint intuitively, so, editing is not something I consciously do. At first, I was attracted to the trees standing, in front of the background, within the park in which I started this painting. A friend asked me, “What is in the background that you are drawing my eye to?”- referring to a blob of orange in the middle of the painting. Clearly, they didn’t think the painting was about the trees. Maybe something will come of it.
